A happy chocolate birthday

After we go back from Disneyland was Tommy's birthday. We ended up celebrating it early so Davy and Jon could come. {they would be gone by the time we got back from vacation} I ask Tommy what kind of birthday he wanted. Wondering if he would pick a "Dinosaur" or "Hotwheels" party.... nope.... he wanted a Chocolate party!! Yes a chocolate party, not just a cake but a party. So... that's what I tried to do. Being that he is turning 4 I kept it really small. four little friends {and all the other random people tha show up at our house} We had pizza, and a pinata. Then all the kids just played.

{Chocolate cake... it has a blue center {per Tommy's request}And yes... I forgot one of the candles on his cake.... there should be 4, they grow so fast!!}

The indestructible pinata

The pinata was really funny. It took two turns from all the kids and then to get beat by all the men as well. There was a flying bat... and a man that was struck.... take that as you will. {Brandon I'm sure Adam is sorry!} The poor pinata ended up on the ground being smash to smithereens, and then there was candy....

Finally it was opened. {the kids were happy, that the men were finally strong enough to break it open}

Tommy was born while Steve was in Iraq. He was named after my father and has crazy similarities to him. He was bald until 2 and now he has so much hair. Tommy is so funny and has a crazy sense of humor. He is pretty quiet until he warms up and then goes wild. His smile really brightens a room, and his high pitch voice makes everyone giggle.

Tommy, I love you! You bring so much joy to my life. I love the special relationship we have. Tommy I hope that you forever keep the zest of life that you have right now, and are able to continue to have the happy out look on life that you do now.

Here is the song that totally explains Tommy's birth from Steve's perspective. "The day you were born." Grab a tissue, it's a beautiful song. I really love this song so I'm going to write the lyrics.

"The Day You Were Born" by Jr Schultz

It's 3am and I'm wide awake, They say I'm going to be a daddy today, but I can't be there, And my heart is torn. A million thoughts running through my head, Wonder if I'll be a good dad, You know I ain't never done this before.

I heard you cry, and I couldn't help to shed a few myself, But I'm smiling through the tears, The world stood still as I held the phone, And suddenly I wasn't alone, And all those miles seem to disappear.

And I'm 7,000 miles away, And all I can do is pray,To God that every things going to be alright, All alone I'm walking the floor, Surrounded by this war, That's where I was the day that you were born.

Now I don't mean to come off like I'm, Feeling sorry for myself, But some times it don't seem fair, Daddy's running off left and right, And I'm stuck here tonight, When all I want, Is to be there.

And I'm 7,000 miles away, And all I can do is pray, to God that every things going to be alright, All alone I'm walking the floor, Surrounded by this war, That's where I was the day that you were born.

When I finally close my eyes at night, Drifted off into a dream, It was as real as a dream could be, I picked you up and held you close, Then suddenly I wake up to reality.

And I'm 7,000 miles away, and all I can do is pray, To God that every things going to be alright, All alone I'm walking the floor, Surrounded by this war, That's were I was the day that you were born.... You've been my son since the day that you were born.

Happy 4 years Tommy, I look forward to lots, and lots more with you!!

Well that cake looks fantastic! What a nice mommy you are. Good heavens, I had no idea you had a baby when Steve was in Iraq. Wowzers.
